Somatic Shaking & Balancing Breathwork: An Introduction to TRE & Coherent Breathing
TRE is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. The exercises safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance.
Since this shaking mechanism in the muscles is part of our natural behaviour as humans, everyone can benefit from TRE! This shaking of the muscles increases the resiliency of the body because it causes deep relaxation that naturally reduces stress levels. It can release emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety whether it is caused by work stress, excessive worry, conflict in relationships, physical stresses or traumas from accidents or abuse.
TRE® is based on the fundamental idea, backed by research, that stress, tension and trauma is both psychological and physical. TRE’s reflexive muscle vibrations generally feel pleasant and soothing. If there’s one breathwork technique to learn and practice on a regular basis, Coherent Breathing is it! By breathing at a specific rate, known as the resonant frequency, this operates as a central conductor, bringing all of the other systems of the body into a state of coherence. When we add music and guided softening of areas of bodily tension, this style of breathing is a fun way to achieve all of the benefits of meditation and more, without even trying. The benefits include:
improving circulation; making your heart more flexible and resilient; assisting with digestion; reinvigorating your energy levels; restoring balance to your nervous system; reconnecting you to your intuition, inspiration and insight; increasing creativity; enhancing interpersonal relationships; cleaning your brain; and reminding you how to relax and feel good!
Both TRE and Coherent Breathing are self-help tools that, once learned, can be used independently as needed throughout one’s life, thereby continuously supporting and promoting personal health and wellness.
Sensational Breath & Body
Our breathing is vital not just to our life, but to our experience of life. To breathe fully and freely allows us to feel fully and freely, which in turn empowers us to live fully and freely. The powerful intention of this two hour experiential session is to learn how to undo negative conditioning, let go of limiting beliefs and heal all types of trauma by using breathing and feeling to integrate emotional blockages and mental models at the level of sensations in the body. In this deep dive together, Marcus will create a safe and contained space to gently explore subtle changes in bodily sensations and their inherent impermanence, using a combination of conscious connected breathing and felt-sense. This is a trauma-informed embodiment technique of connecting with the physical sensations that arise with emotions and learning to surf the emotional waves using practices that include somatic awareness, conscious breathing, resourcing, pendulation and integration. The experience will be set to specially-selected music and guided and facilitated by Marcus throughout. This environment relaxes the body and dials down the overthinking part of your brain, enabling you connect to your innate intelligence and wellbeing, to integrate emotional experience, and to increase your capacity for energetic awareness and sensual aliveness. The result? A return to our natural state of wholeness!
Clearing the Channel & Connecting to Source Through Breath & Sound (Marcus Blacker & Loulii)
This is a collaboration and co-creation between Marcus and Loulii. Using a combination of vocal toning and sound frequencies, conscious connected breathing and breath holding, the intention of this workshop is to activate each of the body’s main energy centres (chakras) and open up the flow of energy through the central channel, creating a connection with source.
