Embodying resilience: a movement research lab
This is not a class where I will teach certain movements or choreography but rather a space I will hold for the participants to explore using their own bodies. I am here to guide a warm up and the structure of this Lab until we reach our closure together. We will research the word “Resilience” that has been recently widely used in different contexts. The research might involve some tools of writing and reading and a brief sharing of thoughts but it is mainly focused on the body and the performativity of Resilience. The aim is to explore what Resilience truly means to you and to your body? How does your body translate it? Using a mix of exercises deriving from the seven levels of tension by Lecoq and Laban’s efforts and other techniques, we will explore the physicality of Resilience. Is Resilience as a movement fast or slow? sudden or sustained in time? is it heavy or light? etc…
This is a workshop for people who want to dig deeper through movement embodiment. It is not about performing a beautiful movement. It is about being in the body, in the space and with each other, open to play and to be surprised by how our bodies interpret and embody a word.
We will take advantage of our presence in nature to contemplate the resilience in the space/and of the space and create our own dance with the space using different tools and we will share together as a group our explorations and get inspired by each other in this collaborative space that we will be building together.
